Collaborations between technology brands and fashion labels have become so prevalent, it’s hardly a surprise when a popular device is updated with a new coat of paint and some prominent branding to distinguish a special edition from its standard counterpart. Seoul-based fashion brand ADER ERROR has followed suit by lending their signature Z-blue color to impart the Bang & Olufsen’s Beosound A1 portable speaker with a hue distinct from the A1’s six available options. Where this fashionable partnership veers beyond the formula of color and logo is in the addition of two unique add-on accessories designed specific to this special edition release.
Bang & Olufsen’s head of brand collaborations, Andra Gavrilescu, says the intent behind the partnership with ADER ERROR is a “statement in both look and sound.” And that statement is prominently enhanced by the creation of an optional plush circular travel bag designed to carry the similarly shaped portable audio device.
The limited-edition collection titled “The Blueism” sports ADER ERROR’s signature hue and prominent logo across the perforated front of the Beosound A1.
In contrast to the hardness of a speaker shell, the soft cowhide leather pouch with cotton filling features a deep button tuft in its center, with white contrast piping and an adjustable shoulder strap to complete its very purse-like silhouette. Worn across the shoulders, few suspect a waterproof Bluetooth speaker powered by 2 x 30W Class D amplifiers is fashionably housed within.
The second component unique to the ADER ERROR edition is its very own speaker stand (included with the speaker). Designed to angle the device toward the listener, in a position akin to that of a larger bookshelf or floor standing speaker, the aluminum stand comprising three detachable parts allows those fortunate enough to get their hands on a Beosound A1 ADER ERROR Edition to prominently display it.
The $500 Bang & Olufsen x ADER ERROR Beosound A1 launched this April with the optional ADER ERROR speaker bag priced at an additional $320 for the luxury of representing posh portability. Both will be available, in limited quantities, online and in selected stores.
