Studio Komplett Takes Art to the Floor With Their Colorful Overlay Carpets

Zurich-based Studio Komplett is taking their art to the floor. Working with Swiss textile manufacturer Lantal, the architecture and design studio released a new collection of colorful carpets called Overlay. With irregular perimeters, the three rug designs – Neonstray, Cubycloud, and Rayday – feature unique shapes and bold colorways in a layered pattern, much like something you’d see hanging on a wall. The designs give nod to assemblage or multimedia works where an artist haphazardly layers on paint and paper. They also resemble the new patterns of layered positive and negatives shapes created when stenciling. The hand-tufted wool carpets are vibrant, unique works of art that will change the look and feel of any space.
